Games of the Day

The Nationals and Braves play for first place in the NL East as both teams come into Sunday’s game tied with a 7-4 record. The Nats stand 1-4 against the Braves, but 6-0 against the Marlins and Mets combined. Gio Gonzalez takes on the reinvigorated Aaron Harang. Gio appears to have returned to his 2012 form, the year his high strikeout total also led to a low hit total. Harang has been an extreme fly ball pitcher this season, but none have left the park so far. We’ll see if players continue to get under his pitches. He seems to have cut way back on his curve ball use, so maybe he’s hanging fewer pitches.

Two reclamation projects face off in Seattle as Scott Kazmir leads the Athletics against Chris Young and the Mariners. After a decent year in Cleveland in 2013, Kazmir started the 2014 season strong, with 10 K and four walks in 13 1/3 innings. He has not allowed a home run, his big weakness with the Tribe. Young missed all of 2013, but pitched two perfect innings of relief against Oakland on the sixth of April.

Enjoy!
