A Different Kind of Texas Tea

Geovany Soto, recovering from knee injury, was caught with marijuana.

Soto, 31, was pulled over for speeding and has been charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. Police say he was cooperative during the arrest. A team spokesman said they “are aware of the situation.”

In 54 games for Texas last season, Soto hit .245/.328/.446 (114 OPS+) with nine home runs. The team re-signed him to a one-year, $3.05 million contract and planned to make him their starting backstop.

Given the poor play by the Rangers this season, Soto may need to pass some joints around to the rest of his teammates to cheer them up.
