I have a Manhattan for the drinking game, but I doubt it will last the first round. The contest is being delayed by weather, so I may need to pour another one later. 🙂
Update: I wouldn’t be surprised if ESPN works through all their ads, then calls off the derby.
Update: The HR Derby is underway with Todd Frazier batting. Raindrops are still falling in Minnesota.
Update: Frazier hits two home runs as a rainbow circles rightfield.
Update: Brian Dozier hits two as well. ESPN is moving this along, which is good.
Update: Troy Tulowitzki takes the NL lead with four home runs. Target Field is proving tough for homers tonight.
Update: Jose Bautista seems to have the park measured, as he hit four home runs in his first five swings.
Update: Bautista is doing a great job of lofting the ball. He has eight home runs with five outs.
Update: Bautista finishes with ten home runs for the AL lead.
Update: Yasiel Puig swings at almost every pitch and makes seven outs without hitting a home run. Looks like he’ll be out of the competition.
Update: Adam Jones hits four home runs, line drives that just kept rising. The homers were impressive.
Update: Giancarlo Stanton hits his third home run into the upper part of the upper deck. That was certainly the highest home run of the evening so far.
Update: Stanton’s sixth and final home run lands even higher in the upper deck. He will advance to the next round.
Update: Josh Donaldson hits three, so he still has a chance to advance to round two.
Update: Justin Morneau hits two home runs, so there will be a swing off for the third slot in the NL.
Update: Yoenis Cespedes hits three, and there will be an AL swing off as well.
Update: Todd Frazier wins the swing off for the NL.
Update: Cespedes advances to round 2.
