Games of the Day

Gio Gonzalez faces Johnny Cueto as the Reds ace tries to end the Reds seven game losing streak. Gonzalez takes the hill for Washington, with the team 12-6 in July. Gio allowed just six home runs this season in 86 2/3 innings, but five of those came in his 49 1/3 innings on the road. Cueto allowed 12 homers this season, but 11 of them were solo shots. He’s holding opponents to a .250 OBP.

Chris Sale tries to reach double figures in wins as the White Sox face the Twins and Logan Darnell. Sale comes into the game one inning short of qualifying for the ERA leaderboard. He’ll need six innings to get on the top five list and stay there through his next start. Darnell comes into the game with three perfect innings in relief as he makes his first MLB start. Typical of a Twins pitcher, he didn’t strike out many batters in the minors, but he kept his walks down.

Odrisamer Despaigne and the Padres take on Julio Teheran and the Braves at Turner Field. Despaigne owns a great ERA home and away in his young career, although he pitched much better on the road. He’s yet to walk a batter of give up a home run away from San Diego. Tehrean saw his ERA go up every month this season, with a 4.07 mark in June.

Finally, Clayton Kershaw tries to give the Dodgers another win against the Giants as San Francisco sends Ryan Vogelsong to the mound. The winner of the game will be in first place in the NL West.

Enjoy!
