Games of the Day

There are way too many good pitching match-ups today. The first that stands out for me is Washington at Miami, featuring Stephen Strasburg and Henderson Alvarez. The Florida teams are hot, Miami winning eight of their last night games. Strasburg is in a tiny slump, having given up eight runs in his last 12 1/3 innings, despite striking out 14 and walking just 4. Alvarez’s season against the Nationals sums up his season in general. In two starts he’s 0-1 despite an 0.84 ERA.

Later, Aaron Harang leads the Braves into Los Angeles to battle Josh Beckett and the Dodgers. Harang allowed just eight home runs in 103 1/3 innings after giving up 26 in 143 1/3 innings in 2013. Beckett is just 1-4 at Dodger Stadium this season despite a 2.70 ERA at home.

Enjoy!
