No Ender in Sight

Arizona Rookie Ender Inciarte owns the longest current hitting streak in the majors, 18 games. As far as hitting streak go, it’s a bit weak, producing a .316/.365/.405 BA. Twenty-one of his 25 hits were singles, and he only drew six walks in 79 at bats. The streak actually covers 19 games, as he walked in his only plate appearance in game two, so that game doesn’t count.

Ender strikes me as the type of player capable of a long streak. If you examine his minor league numbers, he owns a good batting average without a lot of walks or a lot of strikeouts. He doesn’t hit for power. He’s up at the plate trying to put the bat on the ball, and since he does that often enough, hits fall in. He has a niche as a hitter, and with good defense in the outfield, he should stick around a while. He’ll be the type of hitter who is productive if he hits .300, not so much at .260.
