Games of the Day

New York and Detroit play the rubber game of their series as they vie for the second wild card slot in the American League. Hiroki Kuroda takes on Kyle Lobstein. Kuroda pitched better on the road this season, where he allowed just four of his 16 home runs. Lobstein’s strength in the minors was keeping the ball in the park, although in his last two seasons he brought his walk rate under control as well.

The Athletics visit the Angels to start a four-game series which may go a long way toward determining the LA West championship. Sonny Gray takes on C.J. Wilson. Gray won both his starts against the Angels, holding them to six runs in 15 innings. Wilson faces Oakland for just the second time this season, but he does own a 1.42 ERA in his 6 1/3 innings of work against them.
