You know baseball might be in trouble if the Red Sox are not selling out. I didn’t realize that NESN viewership was down so much last year. I blame Heidi Watney.
I do know I received an offer to bid on Green Monster seats for this weekend’s Yankees series. In the past, these tickets were very difficult to obtain through the Red Sox. Are fans getting bored with the Red Sox? Has the whole Red Sox nation shtick run its course, or are seats just too expensive? Why aren’t you buying Red Sox tickets this year?
With Southwest Airlines flying out of Boston in June, it may become cheaper to fly to Baltimore for Boston games. There’s rail straight from the airport to Camden Yards, and you can probably get a seat close to the field for a good price.

At first I was excited to read about chinks in the Red Sox armor. And then you pointed out an easy way for more Red Sox fans to invade Camden Yards. And now I’m depressed.

There’s a lot of Sox fans in DC, including the college students at GW and American U. It’s not all people flying down for the weekend.

For me, the Fenway experience over the past few years has gotten progressively more expensive, but not equally more entertaining, to the point where I’m hard-pressed to justify the cost of going to a game (especially given that I can enjoy the game from the comfort of my living room at, essentially, no cost at all).
Separately, how hilariously awful is heidiwatney.net? The home page’s second sentence made me laugh out loud:
“Right away Red Sox fans were taken aback by this gorgeous blonde former-beauty queen sports nut from Fresno, CA.”
I definitely agree that we were taken aback. And it’s kind of neat that she’s both a gorgeous blonde _and_ a “former-beauty” queen. I’m left to wonder whether UCSD bothers teaching English Composition to its incoming students, however.

I miss Hazel Mae. She was always great and knew lots of trivia!
