Bay Blast

Jason Bay hits a two-run, two-out home run to centerfield in the bottom of the ninth to tie the Yankees at four. That’s Rivera’s first blow save of the season. Bay is three for five on the night with a double and a homer, upping his slugging percentage to .635.

Update: Lowell singles, but Varitek strikes out to end the inning. The teams go to extra innings.

This has been a great game. Both teams are putting men on base, getting in and out of trouble, have come up with good defensive plays and big hits. Once again, these two franchises are very evenly matched.

Update: Youkilis hits a ball over the monster seats to win the game in the bottom of the eleventh. The Red Sox take the game 5-4. Kevin has a good night with two hits and two walks.
