Yankees fans were chanting, “We want Torre,” in the ninth inning Tuesday night. That can’t sit well with management. The one thing I thought Girardi would do well as a manager is get the pitching in shape. As a player, he was the catcher you wanted behind the plate to coax a good game out of a starter. The Yankees pitching since he began has been a disappointment, however. The probability is that the staff is just off to a bad start, but Joe hasn’t seemed to work any magic in a year and a month.

dave — joey g was a solid catcher, but that’s a far cry from managing a pitching staff. girardi constantly makes head-scratching decision, like ‘trying out’ unproven/ new/ rookie/ relievers during close games. as challenged as torre was at managing his ‘pen, at least you knew scott proctor was going to throw 100 games before the 7th inning or until his arm fell off.
