With fewer pitchers completing games every year, the short shutout measures scoreless games that might fall short of a complete game. A short shutout includes any game in which the starter pitches at least six innings without allowing a run. Here’s the list of pitchers with at least two this season:
Pitcher | Short Shutouts |
---|---|
Edwin Jackson | 3 |
Felix Hernandez | 3 |
Zack Greinke | 3 |
Joe Saunders | 2 |
Paul Maholm | 2 |
Randy Johnson | 2 |
Edinson Volquez | 2 |
CC Sabathia | 2 |
Barry Zito | 2 |
Wandy Rodriguez | 2 |
Josh Johnson | 2 |
James Shields | 2 |
Brian Bannister | 2 |
Cliff Lee | 2 |
Max Scherzer | 2 |
Doug Davis | 2 |
Yovani Gallardo | 2 |
Johan Santana | 2 |
John Lannan | 2 |
Justin Verlander | 2 |
Kyle Lohse | 2 |
Matt Cain | 2 |
Johnny Cueto | 2 |
Notice that there are a few starters in this list who got off to poor starts (Volquez, Verlander, Shields, Sabathia and Zito).
Nice to see Bannister on there. He started the year in AAA Omaha.
