Mets Bite the Bullet

The Mets finally place Jose Reyes on the disabled list, along with Ryan Church. Reyes hasn’t played since the 20th, so that’s four games the Mets played short handed.

To fill the spots, the Mets promoted highly touted outfielder Fernando Martinez from Triple-A on Tuesday and also acquired infielder Wilson Valdez from Cleveland for cash.

Martinez is 20 years old, with seven home runs this season in 160 at bats at AAA. He hit eight home runs in 352 AA at bats in 2008.
