Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa is suing Twitter:
St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is suing the social-networking site Twitter, claiming an unauthorized page using his name damaged his reputation and caused emotional distress.
The suit filed last month in the Superior Court of California in San Francisco seeks unspecified damages.
Last I looked, Twitter wasn’t making money. I don’t think I’ve seen an ad on a Twitter page. Why not sue the person who actually damaged his reputation?
On top of that how much can you damage the reputation of a drunk driver who allowed rampant steroid use to go on under his nose?

Elsewhere, I’ve read suggestions that the primary motivation of the suit was either (a) to get the page taken down or (b) to get Twitter to disclose the identity of the person posting anonymously as Tony LaRussa (so that person could be sued).
Whether he has a damageable reputation is more-or-less a question for the jury/judge to determine.

I don’t blame him for being mad at Twitter. There wasn’t much to the drunk driving charge and it is looking like all managers had rampant steroid use under their nose…
