Ross Gload hit two home runs for the Marlins Thursday afternoon, just his second and third of the season. His three RBI didn’t help enough, however, as the Cardinals take the game 6-5. Albert Pujols broke out of his slump a bit with a home run and a walk in five plate appearances. The home run ties him with Don Baylor for 85th on the all-time list at 338. His next one moves him up to 82 as there is a three way tie at that level with Tino Martinez, Boog Powell and Dave Parker. He’s ten away from tying Dave Parker and twenty away from Yogi Berra.

I almost fell out of my chair when I read this. Is there some other Ross Gload out there? Because there’s no way the Ross Gload I had to watch as a Royal would EVER hit 2 homers in a game.
