The Padres place Chris Young on the disabled list due to his shoulder:
Ace Jake Peavy was placed on the DL on Saturday, a day after learning he would be sidelined at least a month because of a strained tendon behind his right ankle.
“It stinks. I hate that. I hate that for the guys,” Young said. “But I think it got to a point where my performance was hurting the team more than helping, and I needed to get this better so I could have some impact when I do come back.”
Young (4-6, 5.21 ERA) had a second cortisone shot on Wednesday night.
Young’s strkeouts are way off this year another indication of a problem.
