A.J. Burnett, pitches seven shutout innings against the Mets for the second time this season, and combines with the Yankees bullpen for a one-hitter against their cross town rivals. Burnett also showed better control Saturday night, walking three and striking out ten.
His first short shutout against the Mets started a streak of 12 games in which the starters reached their potentials. They’ve posted a 2.73 ERA in that time while striking out more than eight per nine innings while walking less than three. They’ve allowed just six home runs, and never more than one in any start. With the offense clicking over the last four games, the Yankees may be in that sweet spot where they’re playing well on both sides of the ball.
Correction: I meant strikeouts per nine innings.

@Alex, yes, Posada and Cervelli have a lot of trouble holding on to those swinging strike threes.
