    • We all know what a night out at the ballpark costs. While it may be "priceless", it's anything but that when the credit card bill arrives. A cash advance can help.

    Phillies Look at Pedro

Pedro Martinez pitches a bullpen session for the Phillies today:

The defending World Series champions have a tough situation in their starting rotation, and they don’t appear to have a whole lot of trade chips to offer, so that would explain their interest in Martinez.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the Phillies are thought to be exploring a variety of options at pitcher, including journeyman Paul Byrd, who finished last season with Boston.

Pedro Martinez is a real interesting gamble. I’d be interested in him if he did what Mike Mussina accomplished in 2008. Mike abandoned his fastball for slow and slower pitching. Like Mussina, Pedro had a sizable arsenal of pitches that he threw well. Like Mussina, Pedro also had pin-point accuracy. I bet Martinez could pull it off.
