Nationals Enquirer wonders what other new ways the Nationals will find to lose:
Just when you think you’ve seen everything…and the scary thing is, with another 81 games to go, they may yet invent new ways to lose.
Julian Tavarez deservedly takes the loss, walking two in the 8th; LA Joe Beimel botches easy DP ball by throwing to… the wrong guy.
The lasting images from this game: Austin Kearns falling down after getting picked off base in the 8th (can’t they just leave him in Denver?), and Willie Harris’ falling down after taking a bad hop to the groin. Oh, the pain.
Alan Embree came into the game in the top of the eighth, picked off Kearns, and got the win when Barmes hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. Embree gets the win without throwing a pitch.
Games like this, in my opinion, point to a bad field manager. When a player doesn’t have his head in the game, that’s the player’s fault. When the group doesn’t pay attention, that’s the manager’s fault. I suspect Acta’s job is still on the line, and game like the one Tuesday night should count against him.

Agreed. I think Manny has a good approach to the game and I’m glad that he doesn’t spend time and energy on bunts and hit-and-run’s, but when I watch the Nats, they don’t play hard. That’s a sign that the manager has lost the team.
