Barry Zito pitched his best game of the season against a punchless Marlins lineup. They’re a different team without Hanley Ramirez in the order. Barry lasted 8 1/3 innings for the short shutout, nicely striking out six while walking one. The Fish managed just four hits, all singles. It’s Zito’s third short shutout of the season and his seventh as a Giant. The first three came in the first two months of 2007. The Giants win the game 3-0 as they try to bury a wild card competitor.
