    • We all know what a night out at the ballpark costs. While it may be "priceless", it's anything but that when the credit card bill arrives. A cash advance can help.

    More on the Reds Deals

The Reds give up three players for Rolen, and get one back for Hairston:

The Reds are sending Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Roenicke and Zach Stewart to Toronto for Scott Rolen.

That’s a high price to pay.

In exchange for Jerry Hairston Jr., the Reds are getting catcher Chase Weems. He was drafted in the sixth round in 2007.

That’s not a bad haul for the Blue Jays. Maybe that’s why Ricciardi didn’t need to trade Halladay, as the Reds gave him three good players for a 34-year-old. We’re still waiting to see if Rolen approves the deal.

As a Jays fan, I’m very excited about this package. For as good of a season as Rolen was having–doubles and defense–he’s getting paid a ton, is injury prone and is a FA after next season. To get a young hitter with power and two good arms in exchange is a job well done.
