    • We all know what a night out at the ballpark costs. While it may be "priceless", it's anything but that when the credit card bill arrives. A cash advance can help.

    Should the Tigers Swing Early?

Bilfer at The Detroit Tigers Weblog disagrees with Jim Leyland that the Tigers should have swung at more Josh Beckett first pitches:

It wasn’t really a take I expected (and not just because I spent a chunk of my recap praising the Tigers for making Beckett throw more than 5 pitches per plate appearance through the first 4 innings) because the Tigers aren’t really noted for their patience at the plate.

The Tigers who swung at the first pitch last night didn’t do well. Beckett was basically using the Greg Maddux method of hitting the corners for strikes last night. It’s tough to hit a pitch like that well.
