The Rays made it pretty clear today they won’t sign their first two picks from this draft. The number two pick wants to attend college, but the number one pick seems to be about money. The Rays are one of those teams that is dependent on keeping their farm system supplying talent, since long term they probably can’t spend a lot of money on free agents. Losing out on two picks has to hurt. I suppose with the first pick it’s posturing, and he might come around to the money at the last minute.
