Jeremy Guthrie made his fourth good start in a row today, shutting out the Rangers for seven innings and throwing 110 pitches. Guthrie pitched poorly through August 16th, giving up a ton of home runs, 40 per 200 innings. Since then, however, he’s turned a good walk rate into a great walk rate, and lowered his home runs allowed to just 14.8 per 200 innings. I can’t find anything about what turned him around, but whatever he did has to give the Orioles hope for next season. If Jeremy can lead the promising youngsters, the Orioles might turn out to have a pretty good pitching staff.
