Maury Brown reports that the federal prison system released Troy Ellerman 14 months before the end of his sentence. Ellerman went to jail for leaking the BALCO grand jury testimony:
In the federal system, parole is no longer available, as federal sentencing guidelines apply instead. In federal cases, there is something called “supervised release.” The length of a supervised release term is suggested by the sentencing guidelines, but in the end it’s decided by a judge. Probation is available only in limited circumstances.
There are a couple of ways out, however, but it’s not clear why Ellerman got off early.

Soooooo,
It is clear (er, no pun intended) that Ellerman isn’t the one who’s leaking the names on the list of 104. A list that was kept secret until the US federal government got its hands on it.
Anyone else going to jail over that?
