A three-way tie for the wild card is still possible, but the Giants need to bring the Rockies back with their three-game series that starts tonight.

Texas was the only one of the AL four-way tie contenders to lose on Sunday. They now stand six games out of the division with 20 games to play, so any massive tie in the AL is quickly becoming unlikely.

The above requires the Rangers to go 6-1 against the Angels, and the Red Sox to lose two out of three games to the Angels. Just as in the NL, a three-way tie between the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels does nothing to produce extra games, as New York and Boston’s head-to-head record would determine the division winner.
