NL Wild Card Race

The four-way tie for the NL Wild Card is looking dimmer tonight as the Rockies win this afternoon and the Marlins lose. The Braves and Giants kept pace with Colorado, but time is running out just to keep pace.

Pat Misch pitched the first shutout of his career as the Mets downed the Marlins 4-0. Florida managed eight hits, but Maybin managed the only extra base hit.

It took the Braves 10 innings, but they over-came three Washington homers beat the Nationals 6-3. The Braves scored the ultimate winning run without getting the ball out of the infield on a walk, HBP, infield single and ground out.

Matt Cain turned around a few bad performances with eight shutout innings against the Cubs. He allowed just three hits and two walks. Eli Whiteside doubled twice, the only extra base hits of the 14 the Giants collected as they managed just five runs in their 5-1 win.

The Cardinals didn’t play all of their first string hitters this afternoon, but the Rockies just managed a one-run win, 4-3. The T’s had it on offense as Tulowitzki and Torrealba homered for the Rockies.

The following results in a four-way for the NL Wild Card tie with the highest winning percentage:

  • Rockies 1-5
  • Braves 4-3
  • Marlins 6-0
  • Giants 6-0

There are only two chances left for a four way tie.
