Anibal Sanchez finishes his season on a high note as he allows one run over seven innings to the Phillies first string lineup. Sanchez only struck out three while allowing five hits as the Marlins go on to a 4-3 win. With Atlanta losing, Florida takes over second place in the NL East, a position that carries a $10,000 bonus per player.
The loss also means that which ever team wins the NL West earns home field advantage during the NL playoffs, since whoever wins that division will have 94 wins and neither Philadelphia nor St. Louis can win that many.
