Both Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy received two-year contract extensions today (Tuesday). They improved the team over last season, but they also had a chance to win the wild card and failed to gather the extra pieces needed to push the team over the top. I thought the deadline trades were good deals, but they turned out to be less than adequate. Still, as measured in wins and losses the two did a better job than last season, and now they will be expected to go to the next level in 2010. I’m interested to see how many veterans Sabean jettisons this off season.

The Giants are a joke, interested in fooling the fans of SF and not putting much of a quality product on the field. In an off-season which had the likes of Adam Dunn, Bobby Abreu, and Orlando Hudson available for a song, Brian Sabean…got Edgar Renteria and a couple of pieces of shale. Why would Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum want to stay in SF?
On the heels of having the best player in baseball history (yes, you read the correctly), Sabean has signed the likes of Barry Zito, Aaron Rowand, and…you get the idea. Hell, even WITH Bonds, Sabean signed nuggets to fit around him.
