    OBM Says Goodbye

John Perricone will stop blogging at Only Baseball Matters. That’s too bad, as he’s been blogging almost as long as me, and I always enjoyed his work, even when I didn’t agree with it. You’ll be missed, John.

    Hat tip, Giants Win.

      David,

First, please get rid of that horrible dirt ad that covers the site. Really.

Second, I am not stopping blogging, I am considering not writing about the SF Giants anymore. I am from NY, and have always covered the Giants because they, like me, and Brian Sabean, are NY transplants.

That said, they are horrible, and horribly run, and frustrating, and quite frankly, boring. I’m tired of writing the same shit, year after year. Re-signing Sabean, after his complete failure this season, is ridiculous.

I’d rather write about a team that cares. The Yankees might be boorish, and overbearing, and they might spend more money than anyone else, but the last thing anyone could possibly accuse them of is not caring about winning a title.

The SF Giants do do not care about winning a title. They care about looking good, and filling the stands, and being right.

I am tired of covering that kind of crap. So, maybe this offseason, I’ll make a trade. I’ll trade myself to the Yankees, and write about winning it all, instead of winning a batting title, or 88 games, or selling 40,000 seats.

I’ve been a Giants fan for years and have had my fair share of negative things to say about Brian Sabean. But I think it’s a little ridiculous to call a team that just won 88 games in the best division in the league ‘horrible’. To describe the Giants offense, fine- but the whole team?
