The Dodgers reward GM Ned Colletti with a long term extension. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Ned when he took over from Paul DePodesta. The team has been very successful under Ned, and that kind of success deserves a reward.

Yikes! This is a good example of how it is often wiser to examine the process rather than the results.
The young players that Colletti inherited are the driving force behind the team’s success. Meanwhile, he has made some epicly poor free agent acquisitions.
From the top of my head: Jason Schmidt, Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones. Who am I missing? These moves would completely handcuff an organization that didn’t have so much young talent.

@MH: The problem is that it’s tough to criticize someone whose team keeps making the playoffs. My feeling is a Manny Ramirez trade covers a lot of other mistakes. I’m also curious to see if he learns from his mistakes. The team demoted Pierre to a back up role this season, which seemed to light a fire under him. They also let Andruw Jones go, so Colletti seems to be able to see his mistakes and not handcuff his team to them.
