The Diamondbacks exercised their option on Brandon Webb. He’ll earn $8.5 million in 2010. Webb wants to prove he can pitch again before signing an extension with the Diamondbacks, although he he comes back to form Arizona might not be able to afford him. He doesn’t really have to pitch all that well to earn his $8.5 million, so it’s a no lose situations for the Diamondbacks. If he and Haren can once again combine to form one of the best front of the rotations in baseball, Arizona might even find themselves in a division race.
