    Top Managers Honored

Mike Scioscia and Jim Tracy take how the BBWAA Manager of the Year Award in the American and National Leauges respectively. Scioscia finished 34 points ahead of Ron Gardenhire, but did not receive votes on two ballots. Five different managers finished with first place votes, including Don Wakamatsu, who finished ahead of Ron Washington. Joe Girardi was third.

Jim Tracy easily finished ahead of Tony La Russa, garnering 29 of 32 first place votes, with one voter leaving him off the ballot. The most surprising result of the voting was Bud Black getting two third place votes. Joe Torre finished third.

I took the same stance as you did in regards to Girardi and Scioscia. But I did like Wakamatsu being recognized by at least one voter. A lot of projections for the M’s early on were 100+ losses and he did a great job with the team this year. I don’t think he should have finished in the top 3, but definitely deserved some votes. Good for him.
