Gordon Beckham plays third base for the Chicago White Sox. He finished 2009 as one of the top rookies in the American League. The most impressive thing about Beckham so far is his ability to hit at every level he’s played. The White Sox drafted him out of college and placed him in A ball where he played 14 games before the end of the season. He hit over .300 and slugged .500. He started 2009 at AA, hit .299 and slugged .497 in 38 games, then played seven games at AAA with a .464/.448/.679 slash line, at which point Chicago called him up. He ended his major league season with a .270/.347/.460 line, not bad for a 22-year-old rookie. His poor month of August was one of the few stretches in his career when he didn’t hit well.

At this point, the sky’s the limit for the White Sox infielder. With two more years to mature before hitting his prime, Chicago could have a real star on their hands.
