Salt in the Wound

Jarrod Saltalamacchia injured his surgically repaired shoulder:

“He played it safe and came out of the game,” GM Jon Daniels said. “He’ll be evaluated in Texas on Friday. At this point we don’t know if it’s simply part of the rehab or something else.”

It is not uncommon for players recovering from surgery to tear some lesions caused by scar tissue early on during the rehab process. That causes some soreness, but no damage. Until the Rangers have Saltalamacchia examined they won’t know if he’s simply torn some of those lesions or suffered a new injury.

As Evan Grant notes, a serious injury to Jarrod could mean more money for Ivan Rodriguez.
