After much speculating, the Brewers appeared to sign Randy Wolf to a three-year contract:
Free agent left-hander Randy Wolf and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a three-year contract worth $27 million, major league sources tell ESPN The Magazine’s Buster Olney.
While Wolf was certainly worth that kind of money in 2009, that was his career year. He’ll play 2010 as a 33-year-old. It seems to me the Brewers are over-paying a bit here.
On the other hand, Milwaukee needs pitchers capable of giving them 200 innings, and sometimes you need to pay a little extra for what you need. Wolf should give them those innings. I would point out, however, he’s been less than successful at Miller Park in his career.
