Players A to Z, Doug Davis

Doug Davis pitched as a starter for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009. Today he signed a contract with his old team, the Milwaukee Brewers. Davis is pretty much the definition of a middle of the rotation starter. You can usually count on him for 34 starts, around 200 innings, and an ERA in the high 3.00s or low 4.00s. He doesn’t strike out a lot of batters, but his K rate is okay. He walks a few too many batters, but his rate isn’t terrible. He gives up a few too many home runs, but not enough to worry you. More often than not, his record is around .500. I could see him putting together a great won-loss record on a good team. Through no fault of his own, Davis rarely pitches for one of those.
