The MLBPA sent out a press release on Tony Clark:
Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Michael Weiner today announced that former 15-year Major League veteran Tony Clark has been hired by the MLBPA as director of player relations. In this newly-created position, Tony will oversee the Union’s expanded efforts in the areas of membership
communications and education. Tony also will play a major role in future rounds of collective bargaining.“It is an honor to welcome Tony to the Association’s staff,” said Weiner. “Tony is as passionate about this union as any player I’ve known and is highly respected throughout the game. He will be a tremendous asset to the players’ cause.”
“I am excited to begin this next chapter of my life by doing my best to ensure that the MLBPA remains a strong and cohesive union,” stated Clark. “I am looking forward to developing relationships with all Union members, past and present, learning about the issues important to them, and keeping them informed and up to date on all issues related to the Basic Agreement.”
Tony always seemed to be well liked wherever he played. He seems well suited to this job.
