Ubaldo Jimenez gets the opening day nod for the Rockies. Over his two full seasons as a Rockies starter he allowed just 24 home runs in 416 2/3 innings, 11.5 per 200 innings. Given the historical home run rates of his home park, that number is simply phenomenal. It allows him to have a slight weakness in issuing walks and not get killed by it. He did greatly cut down on his walks last year (18 fewer in 19 1/3 more innings), and if he can do it again, he’ll be a great Cy Young candidate.
