Royals Prospect Quits

Danny Duffy left the Royals:

“Danny informed us (Tuesday) that his desire is to leave baseball at this time to reassess his life priorities,” assistant general manager J.J. Picollo confirmed in a statement released by the club.

“Should Danny decide in the future to return to the game, we will be happy at that time to discuss the possibility.”

Club officials say Duffy’s decision appears unrelated to a recent injury — a strained left elbow — that was expected to prevent him from pitching in games until mid-May.

Sounds Greinke like to me.

Danny Duffy is an excellent left hand pitching prospect which everyone knows the Royals need. He is also a 21 year old young man who has to figure out what he needs, even if that means not playing baseball again. If he does decide that baseball is what he was meant to do, I suspect that both he and the Royals will be better for it. Until then? Everyone should leave him alone and let him figure it out himself. I’m sure there will be a ton of analysis and speculation but my advise to young Mr. Duffy is to figure out what you want to do and send back the bs where it came from only high and tight.
