Zach Duke turned the tables on the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday night:
The Diamondbacks love to hit fastballs, and Duke kept them off balance with a steady diet of off-speed pitches.
“We were able to use their aggressiveness against them,” he said.
When you can do that for six scoreless innings, as Duke did before he gave up a home run, the hitters aren’t adjusting fast enough. The Diamondbacks need to take a lesson from this game and try to adjust to the pitcher’s pattern faster, swinging at what they’re being thrown, rather than what they are expecting. Behind Duke, Pittsburgh took home a 6-3 victory.
