Montero’s off to a slow start at AAA and about a week and a half ago was benched for not running out a ground ball hard.

Montero’s also not on the 40-man roster.

How would this work if they did want to bring up Montero? Do they have to sign him to a major league contract and DFA someone already on the 40-man roster?

@Rodney Dunning: They moved Nick Johnson to the 60-day DL, which frees a spot on the 40-man roster.

I didn’t actually think they were going to bring up Montero, just wanted to use the phrase, “raise Jesus.”

Have to wonder how long Cervelli can keep up his good hitting as pitchers adjust. If he regresses or fails to adjust, the Yankees might have to gamble on Montero. Sometimes players don’t hit or hustle in the minors when they get bored. Think Hanley Ramirez.

And after watching Swisher tonight, he looks like he is swinging the bat from the Left side tentatively, and probably should not be in there against RHP.

The Yankees with their injuries to position players and some bullpen isssues (assisted by Kays favourite “Chan Ho Out of the Park”), not to mention the slumping again Teixeira, could face some rough times ahead. Blowing that 5 run lead to the Red Sox, and the Twins loss might be sadly remembered by Yankee fans come September.

I still don’t understand giving up an out with Cervelli’s sacrifice bunt and a decent runner on 2B with Papelbon on the mound (he has no move to 2B) and V-Mart and his erratic arm catching. Fake the bunt to draw Beltre in at 3B and run. This meant putting all the hopes on Thames to get a base hit, as Winn has a much chance of hitting a Papelbon fast ball as I do, and Thames was not going to see a decent pitch to hit like the previous night.

Not that I am complaining mind you.

Frankie Brains is going to get all the playing time. Chad’s just going to be hanging around.

Montero is not ready to handle a ML pitching staff, let alone the NY Yankees, especially with a tough Tampa team ahead of them.
