Frying British Baseball

Stephen Fry came out in support of baseball in Great Britain. We’ll see if this leads to better fund raising.

Fry is one of my favorite British comic actors. His role of Jeeves in Jeeves & Wooster is brilliant, and you get to see Hugh Laurie in a role that is the complete opposite of his character in House.

You can see the two in action here. Watching the clip, Wooster has more in common with House than I thought!

If the Jeeves and Wooster adaptations encourage you to go to the original source material and read P.G. Wodehouse, they’ll have done you a great service. Possibly the best, almost certainly the most entertaining, English-language author of the 20th century. Mark Twain once said that “the difference between the right word and a similar word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.” No one ever wrote more “right words” than Pelham Grenville Wodehouse…

Hi David. Thanks for picking up on the story. Maybe Stephen can convince his good friend Hugh to throw a few of his many dollars GB Baseball’s way?!

@Matt Smith: I’m somewhat surprised Fry never made a guest appearance on House. He’s shown up on Bones, another Fox show, and was brilliant. Fry playing a sick valet on House would be a masterpiece.
