No Savior

Stephen Strasburg did not mark the start of a new era in Nationals history. While he’s pitched at the level of the best in the game, the Nationals offense decided to go on sabbatical since the arrival of Baseball Jesus. They’ve scored 3.08 runs per game in the 12 contests since Stephen’s debut on June 8th with a slash line of .231/.279/.368. Previously, the scored 4.41 runs per game with a slash line of .261/.334/.408. Their offense wasn’t great, but it was good enough to keep them in the division race. They are 4-8 in their last 12 games, three of those wins coming against the Pirates. They’ve dropped to 11 games out of first place, and their chance of making the playoffs seems dim.
