Hero Meets Yankees

A seriously injured New York police officer met the Yankees:

Carlos Olmedo, the NYPD officer who spent 11 days in a coma after being struck by a motorcycle while chasing suspected car thieves, uttered two words upon regaining consciousness: ” Derek Jeter.”

On Saturday, Pix 11 News helped the hero cop who came so close to death meet the New York Yankees and, of course, their team captain.

If my first words were those of a baseball player, my wife would never let me live that down. That said, I’m glad Officer Olmedo is doing well.

If a police officer’s first two words on regaining consciousness after being run down by a motorcycle are a person’s name, logically wouldn’t the officer be trying to pass along an important clue to the crime? Wouldn’t the named person be considered a suspect immediately? Has Mr. Jeter been able to provide an alibi for the time in question?
