Shutting Down Strasburg

Stephen Strasburg will not make his next start, and the Nationals are considering putting him on the disabled list. He will not start for at least 10 days. Yes, the Nationals are babying him, but who can blame them.

If you remember, Roger Clemens went through shoulder problems early in his career and wound up having surgery. I’m sure the Nationals would like to avoid that.

Washington Strasburgs are 43-58, 15.5 games out of first, 14.5 out of the wild card. Having Stephen make all of his starts won’t change their position in the standings. Protect your $15 million investment and go about getting other good players.

Strasburg and pray for rain and a few runs isn’t a winning formula.
