The Evil Player program selected Zach Duke as Friday’s evil player. Duke burst on the scene in 2005, making 14 starts and posting a 1.81 ERA. All his rate stats were good, even his strikeouts for a soft-tossing southpaw. Since then, however, he K per 9 rate dropped to 4.5 per nine, barely enough to get by, and his ERA rose to an evil 4.65. Duke still keeps his walks and home runs low. On a good defensive team that scored some runs, he could be an effective pitcher.
