Widening the Gap

The Boston Red Sox helped take Jered Weaver out of competition with Clay Buchholz in the AL ERA race as they score six runs off the Angels ace in five innings. That raised Jered’s ERA to 3.11. Meanwhile, Buchholz tossed seven shutout innings to lower his league leading ERA to 2.39 as the Red Sox won the game 6-0. Clay isn’t striking out many batters, but he’s getting over 50% of his balls in play on the ground, so I guess the Red Sox defense is working for him.

Dustin Pedroia went 0 for 4 in his return from the disabled list.
