Padres Sweep (Almost)

The Padres take three in a row from the Cubs with the baby bear offense Wednesday afternoon. On Monday San Diego needed lots of runs to wins. On Tuesday they needed to prevent any runs to win. Today, pitching and hitting were in sync as they downed Chicago 5-1. Adrian Gonzalez homered, Clayton Richard pitched into the seventh, and the pen was perfect. Everything was just right as the Padres retain the best record in the National League. This year, that means home field throughout the playoffs.

Correction: A reader points out there is a game tomorrow. That’s what I get for assuming a Wednesday afternoon game is a getaway day.
