The Dodgers penciled Manny Ramirez into the starting lineup against the Reds, indicating that he’ll come off the disabled list tonight. With the Dodgers eight games out of the wild card, I’m not sure how much of a difference Manny can make at this point. The Dodgers are .557 when Manny plays this season. If they play at that level the rest of the season, they’ll end up with 84 wins and still miss the playoffs.
If the Dodgers put him on waivers, do the Rays or White Sox claim him, or even the Red Sox to block? 4 million in remaining may be a bit of a gamble, but if Manny wants to play, he can help that Rays offense.

@pft: I can’t imagine the Red Sox putting a claim on him. The Dodgers don’t need to work a trade. They can just say, “Take him, he’s yours.”
