It appears that going to Boston is up to Johnny Damon.
His contract includes a clause that gives him veto power over trades to all but eight teams. Because the Red Sox aren’t one of those clubs, he can block any move.
That leads me to believe a deal is in place.
It would be even more interesting to see if he’s forced here on a simple waiver transaction rather than a veto-able trade. Not only does a chunk of your potential fan-base not appreciate the Yankees move, but then to be seen as dragged kicking and screaming back? The booing would be merciless.
